Hey everyone!

So there’s been a couple changes to my Race that I wanted to let you all know about, especially with all that’s been going on with COVID-19.

First of all, I am still going on the World Race. Nothing has been canceled (yet), and if international travel is possible by September, my squad and I will be traveling to eSwatini, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Cambodia!

With that being said, some things have gotten moved and there are backup plans in place if we can’t fly in September. Training Camp, the 10-day mandatory camp for all Gap Year squads, was supposed to happen in July, but now that’s been moved to September 5-16. Launch, the event where our parents and us say goodbye, is still September 4, but instead of leaving immediately after that, all of the Gap Year kids will be diving into two weeks of missional training, discipleship, and “Cultural Days” where we’ll dress and eat as if we were in a certain country (all while living out of tents). After Training Camp, all of the Racers will be departing for the field.

So, Launch, then Training Camp, and then eSwatini! (hopefully)

If borders are still closed in September, the plan is to have a few months of missional training, leadership development, and discipleship at Adventures in Missions’ headquarters in Gainesville, GA, and then fly out first thing in January, having a 6-month missions trip instead of 9-months. We’ll be able to prepare to serve a lot more extensively and grow closer to God and our squadmates before even going out into the field.

So, that’s what’s going on with my gap year! I’m still fundraising (we hit the halfway point in April!!!) and appreciate all the support I’ve gotten so far, whether that’s through donations, buying a t-shirt, or praying for me and my squad. I have a couple ideas for some fundraisers coming up :), but you can also donate just by clicking the button up at the top of my blog!

thanks for reading!
