Hello dear support family,
I have now been in Costa Rica for almost two weeks and wow it has been crazy. With knowing how reached Costa Rica is supposed to be, I was not expecting to walk into the town of Puerto Viejo and see such hurt. The truth about Puerto Viejo is that it’s a tourist town, people come, fall in love with it and never leave. People come here trying to find themselves and the thing they use to find themselves is a mix of drugs, alcohol, yoga, voodoo and witchcraft. We were saddened when we walked into church the first Sunday we were here and it had less than 5 people in the congregation, In a country where its people group is labeled “reached” there are only 5 people in the congregation. That is why we are here, we are here to go out and share the love of Jesus, so that the people in this community don’t have to find themselves, they can allow Jesus to fill them. During these past two weeks we have gotten to serve the YWAM base we have been staying at by doing self improvement work on base; such as, making and laying concrete, yard work and clearing parts of the rainforest to build new housing. We have also been doing evangelism, going out to the town and reaching out to people and beginning to slowly but surely grow the church. I would love your prayers for us and the people we are reaching out to, pray that God is able to light a fire in this town and that His love will explode.
Love you all so much and thank you for your prayer.
