Birthday Celebration in another Country

Last week I turned 20… on October 20th at 8:29am… but you see, I was born on October 19th at 7:29pm. Because Asia is ahead of the rest of the world, I wouldn’t turn 20 at the same as I would have in the States. Which basically means that everyone has different Birthdays based on where they are on the planet. For example, in Thailand I was born on October 20th at 8:29 in the morning because at this time it was October 19th at 7:29 in the evening in Colorado (Wow! Wrap your head around that one)!

But regardless of when I officially turned 20, I still had a absolutely fantastic Birthday, which I celebrated all weekend long! My team and I got up really early and spent the day at an Elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai. It was so incredible! We fed them sugar cane and gave them mud baths! It was absolutely insane! It was a really great Birthday.

When we got home, one of my teammates had made me a banner and had gotten me a cake. A beautiful, heartfelt card was involved and it was all so thoughtful.

I definitely missed my family but I called them Sunday morning (their Saturday night) and we talked for a while over the time that officially turned 20. It was bittersweet but more on the sweet side.

Goodbye Teenage years and Hello Roaring 20s!!!!
