Hey all!
Just because we’re leaving doesn’t mean the Lord stops working so I wanted to post an update and give you all a chance to be involved in what the Lord is doing here in South Asia
While we’re here we’re working with a group called Bibles for the World, and while there are many stories I could tell you guys I’m choosing this one. About a week ago I met a couple of girls. Very cute, very giggly, they ran up to me and wanted to know my name and touch the hair of the American. I met them at a youth retreat that was being held for the youth here during the week of Holi. Holi is a Hindu festival where lots of youth get involved with crazy stuff so to provide a way out of the temptation they hold a youth retreat. A few days after meeting these girls I learned their story and it blew me away.
There’s a missionary here and 4 years ago the Lord called him to take a big leap of faith. There were 3 kids whose dad wasn’t in the picture and whose mom felt like she had run out of options. She brought the kids to his house and then disappeared. So there’s this missionary who already has 3 kids who now has 3 more kids. In total this guy has 6 kids now so they’re a family of 8 living on missionary pay which is $120 USD a month. They’ve made huge sacrifices so that they could take care of these kiddos, even at the expense of their own and make sure they’re loving them all well. I got to sit with the missionary and his wife and they’re incredible people with incredible faith. And even though they’re struggling their hope is in the Lord.
The Lord put it in my heart to sponsor the 3 kiddos whose mom left them so I went to the office to put in to sponsor them. When I got there I found out that all 6 kids need to be sponsored. So this is where you guys come in! You all have been incredible and are the reason I’m able to be here. I’m asking for the church to be the church, i want us to take care of our own. Each of these guys are our brothers and sisters in Christ. So I’m asking you all as my supporters if you feel led or you feel able to take one of these kids and sponsor them. Please don’t just assume someone else will do it, YOU can do it!!
Sponsorship provides the kids with the opportunity to go to school (Christian education) from nursery – class 12, pays for school uniforms, school supplies, books, and pays for their healthcare. And it’s only $34 a month per child and you get letters and pictures from them.
I would love love love to see this family get their needs taken care of and a lot of their stress and worry taken away. Please consider this opportunity and please message me if you want to do it! I’d love to get to tell their parents before we leave tomorrow!!! The 3 siblings that need sponsoring are Esther, Joab, and Moranphom (Momo).
