Hey readers! I hope everyone had a great summer! I enjoyed writing my first blog post soooo much that I wanted to make another one! I figured everyone knows the general term ‘mission trip’ and knows of the countries Thailand and Cambodia, but I thought I would explain more on what exactly I’m doing, and give you some fun facts about the countries I’m visiting!

To start, what will I be doing on this mission trip?

Cambodia:

When I announced that I would first be doing a mission trip, I had attached a photo that included the things I would be doing so I will just retouch on those things. In Cambodia, we will be partnering with two incredible ministries, one being the University of Nations. This is an English school where my team and I will have a chance to teach, and also have a chance to visit people’s homes in the local village and build relationships. The other ministry we will be partnering with is Ezra Ministries. With this ministry, my team and I can teach English as a way to build relationships and share about Jesus. We would also help clean up, renovate, paint, etc. I believe that when I get to Cambodia I have to pick which ministry I want to join for that time, I don’t think I can partner with both while in Cambodia.

Thailand:

When my team and I arrive in Thailand, we will be participating in a lot of prayer and intercession. Depending on the ministry I choose to partner with, I may teach english and educate refugees, or I might minister in prisons. It says on the World Race website that Thailand is very unreached, so teaching English will be a great way to build relationships and share what it looks like to follow Jesus. We will also be able to work alongside a local church and minister with youths, lead worship, and lead Bible teachings.

So many great things to do in these three months and I am so blessed to have come across this organization. If anybody reading this is also interested in partaking in a mission trip, the World Race offers many different dates and lengths of mission trips. Play around with their website and see if it’s something you would want to do!

Before I end this blog post, I also wanted to tell you guys some fun facts I found about Thailand and Cambodia. I, myself, have never been to either of these countries and some of these fun facts helped me gain a little bit of insight on what I’m getting myself into, lol! Just kidding I’m extremely excited for this trip so enjoy!!

Fun facts about Thailand:

  • Thailand is one of the most visited countries in the world

The country’s main international airport see’s as many as 45 million people per year

  • Thailand is a Buddhist country

95% of Thailand follows Buddhism

  • Monkeys have their own temples

Just outside of Bangkok there is a Khmer temple- Phra Prang Sam Yod – where thousands of macaques roam free. Tourists and locals visit to meet and feed the monkeys. They aren’t scared of people, but they will steal from you so beware!(I will add a picture of the macaques onto my blog so you can see how cute they are!)

  • All boys become monks for a while

It’s a routine that boys spend time as novice monks, living at a local temple, at least for a little while. This could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few years.

Fun facts about Cambodia:

  • There has never been a mcdonalds in cambodia, EVER!

  • Young population

Around half of the population is younger than 15 and they lack people over the age of 50

  • Birthdays aren’t traditionally celebrated

This is mostly in the rural parts of Cambodia, but some older people might not even know their exact birthdate, they only recognize their birthday season.

  • Known for the angkor wat temple

This temple is the world’s largest religious building and is considered one of the wonders of the world.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post, I hope everyone has a great day and may God bless you!
