Last Friday, my team and I got the chance to go with one of the girls’ teams to night ministry, and let me tell you, it was an incredible experience. Night ministry is basically ministering to prostitutes on the streets and handing out coffee to people walking by. I’m not gonna lie, seeing some of the things that we saw was hard and was definitely unsettling at times. The incredible thing is that in the midst of all the darkness and sin that we saw, we got to be such a bright light standing there on that street corner. What’s crazy about all that is that we did it by handing out coffee. Sharing Jesus was as simple as that: handing out coffee and asking people about their stories. Throughout all of this I saw something really cool happen inside of me. I got bolder and bolder and bolder with going up to people and asking them questions and sharing Christ. It was so amazing to have that confidence to share Christ and His love in such a direct way.
Since then, I’ve struggled with going to ministry and having the same enthusiasm and boldness when it comes to sharing Christ. In this struggle, though, the Lord has shown me something that I really hadn’t noticed. The father showed me that I didn’t come on the race or Costa Rica to be comfortable. I’m here because the Father called me here. He called me here to further the Kingdom.
That’s it. That’s why I came.
And I’m finding out more and more that it’s not about me, but it’s about the Kingdom. It’s about pouring out the Father’s love on others because He first poured out His love for me. I’m learning to be enthusiastic in everything I do because I get to play a part in so many different ways; whether it is big or small, I’m getting the chance to further the Kingdom. So when I’m enthusiastic in everything I do because I’m doing it for the Lord, that is part of what reflecting Christ looks like, and that is one of the best ways to show God’s love and to invite others in.
