It’s interesting the way that God humbles you. He sometimes does it in a way that you usually wouldn’t see coming, and I’ll be honest I didn’t see this one coming. Our ministry in Costa Rica includes going to a skate park twice a week and hanging out with the guys there. Now most of the guys there only speak Spanish and are really good skateboarders – two things I can’t do at all. So what I’ve been asking myself lately is how can I minister to a group of guys who I can barely relate with, and at the same time some of my teammates have the gifts to relate to them better. So during all of this I heard very clearly from the Lord saying “wait and watch, I’m gonna teach you how to come from a place of genuine love.”

I’m not gonna lie, I have loved learning what that looks like, and so far I think the most humbling thing I’ve learned is in Romans 12: 4-8 which talks about God’s grace, and in that God has given each of us different gifts for doing certain things well. And what’s awesome about that is that the Lord has gifted my team mates in areas that he didn’t gift me in, and he has gifted me in areas that he didn’t gift them in. And what’s even crazier about that is that God brought us together to be a team, to minister together, to learn from each other, to humble each other, and to ultimately chase after Him together and embrace the love God has for us. So when you sit back and watch the way God does things and brings people together it’s rather incredible and breath taking.

For example today at the skatepark our translator, Daniel and I got the opportunity to pray over one of the guys there who was walking around with a limp because he had torn some ligaments in his foot and he couldn’t skate. So we asked if we could pray for him and then we prayed over him and asked the Lord to heal is foot. Then after we ended the prayer he said thank you and got up and started to skate and seemed fine and was doing tricks and stuff. So Daniel asked him how he felt and he said he was fine, no pain at all. So yeah, that’s God for you. Bringing people together with different gifts all for his purpose. So I’m excited to continue to live out this next 9 months with my brothers and sisters in Christ, to continue to be humbled everyday by the grace of the Father through my teammates and through listening to the whispers of God.
