So pretty much I’m just gonna run down a day in my life for all “y’all” that are curious.
About two weeks ago my squad and I arrived in Jefferys Bay, South Africa. All 40 of us are living on a school campus in some homes the teachers/ students live in during the school year. It is sooo nice and we beyond blessed. We actually just got back from five days at a church camp and I would catch many of my squad mates, including me, saying how much we missed “home”. Our ministry hosts have made us feel so at home. They have such a love for the Lord and it shows by the way they love us.
Anyways, This is a rough idea of how my days look.
We start by having some personal time with the Lord at 7:25 for 30 minutes before having breakfast. After breakfast we all come back up stairs to listen to one of our ministry host share their heart and usually do a bit of worship too. As a squad we have all split up around campus to help out with different needs. Stuff such as building a foundation for a new classroom, helping out at a soup kitchen, cooking lunch and dinner for the rest of us… but as for my team we are currently working on painting a bathroom and sanding/ painting some desks. You’d be surprised by the conversations that stem from sanding desks for hours everyday. We are able to laugh together and share our hearts with each other. We do that for 3 hours before having lunch at 1 then after lunch we get back to work at 2 and go till 4 then we have time to chill before dinner at 5, in this time most teams take time to relax, work out, go to the mall, etc. For our first month we are detoxing from our phones so this is a time many of us like to spend in the word. After dinner we will have team time for an hour or so. Team time looks different everyday of the week but its just a good time to spend in community and debrief/ talk about everything thats going on in our hearts. The rest of the night we spend, playing games out side, like soccer, spikeball, or singing, playing card games or just talking. Then we shower up and get ready for bed so we can do it all over again!
We also get the weekends off!! On Saturdays a lot of us will go into town/ go to the beach and look in the shops and stuff and then on Sundays we have church and sabbath. So a lot of us will just stay home and rest.
It’s so surreal that this is my life. And Im so blessed. Im realizing that my location has nothing to do with my happiness but instead living in relationship with the lord is MORE than enough to satisfy my soul.
Thats all for now 🙂
