Another post from Indo! Again… apparently I thought I had posted these… but alas.. I did not. Indonesia was such a blur for me so maybe that’s why I figured I had but haven’t? No idea… forgive me none the less!

We’re driving to church which is about a 45 minute to an hour drive from the village where we are staying. We order our Grabs (the southeast Asian version of Uber) and we hop in to make the trek. As I sit here I feel prompts from Jesus to talk with our Grab driver, but the language barrier has me stopped in my tracks.

I’m reminded of the key I got from Keys For The Journey before leaving for the race. It said “bold” and the second one I got said “more” – “more bold”.. the back and forth in my mind begins – a spiritual battle, a battle of the flesh. “It’ll be too hard to talk to him. We don’t even speak the same language” “how do I start?” Our host told us good conversation starters in sharing the good news with others are bracelets that some Indonesians wear.. but our Grab driver isn’t wearing one. “The car is quiet, dont disrupt the quiet”. The battle continues – I’m bold by being here aren’t I? Isnt that enough? The conversations will happen naturally. If one isn’t happening now, it just wasn’t meant to happen… right?

…wrong.

I am here to share Jesus with those around me. For these 11 months that is my SOUL service. To love on and share Jesus with others. Be bold. Be MORE bold. I received that first key, “bold” soon after I committed to going on the race. I received “more” as I was 2 days away from hopping on my first plane across the world. “More bold”. More conversation, more out of my comfort zone, more intentionality, more joy, more willingness, more trust, more dependency on Jesus.. more.

So how do I start? How do I be more bold with our Grab driver today? I started small. I asked his name in his native language. I will be the one to pay him for his service when we arrive at church. My prayer as we continue to drive the rest of the way is that the Lord will use me as a vessel. Use my mouth as a tool for him to reach this son of His.

My prayer as we drive is that I will be more bold only for the glory of Jesus. Only to be obedient to His command, “go and make disciples”. Only to be a vessel for Him.
