Why
Why am I going on this trip? Honestly, I couldn’t tell you quite yet. The Lord has a reason that He wants to take me to Ecuador this summer, and I have no idea what that is yet. But I know that He does, and I know that, whatever it is, it’s a darn good reason. And I do know that I have a heart for missions, and a heart for spreading the freedom and joy that can only be found in Jesus, to the ends of the Earth. I began praying over this trip, and this process, for about 3 months before I ever submitted an application, and quite honestly I was hesitant. I wanted to be home this summer, and spend time with my family, because I don’t often see them since I am off at school. But as I prayed through it, God gave me a very humbling reminder that I am not in control. This is not my summer to do as I please, but this summer is two months that I am not focused on school that He can use me in ways that He otherwise couldn’t from College Station. When I made the decision to place my life in His hands, I made the commitment to say “not my will but yours be done”; the same commitment that Jesus made, when He submitted to the Fathers will, and took death on the cross. I can’t be obedient to this, while at the same time being selfish about my summer. So, here I am, allowing the Lord to take me wherever He desires to take me this summer. And here I am, being called on an incredible journey.
