“Jesus Loves Me” was shouted A LOT yesterday. During our Path2Hope block party, I sat on a sidewalk and talked about life with my sweet friend. I think we are so quick to write off kids as being unaware of what’s going on, but I quickly realized that her eyes had been opened to a lot of things throughout her life. Together we sat and dug into some really hard questions together about why bad things happen, why people were dying from COVID-19, why families don’t always look like they were meant to, and all the things. And to be honest, I ask those same questions. We discussed that we don’t always know the answers but we know who God is and that his heart is always for our good. Throughout our conversation, my friend would frequently stop and just yell at the top of her lungs “JESUS LOVES ME”. It was such a sweet reminder that everything around us can seem really hard and might not being going how we wanted or expected it to but we can rest in the truth that Jesus loves us and is for us.

Currently, World Race is all online due to a Covid outbreak in all four squads. We were only expecting to be home for five days which turned into five weeks. That email came to a shock to us all and although we know it is best for our health and safety and those that we partner with in ministry, it’s hard to leave the community you’ve lived with 24/7 and be placed in a new environment. Every since that email I’ve been feeling super discouraged. The race that I thought I was going on and the race that I am having are two completely different things. Yet, the Lord was so intentional in letting me test negative for COVID and finish my quarantine before this Path2Hope block party so that I could sit on a freezing cold sidewalk and listen to a little girl speak with such hope and authority that although things aren’t going how we want, all that matters is that Jesus loves us! Kids man, they are wise.

My sweet friend wanted a reminder about the Lords love so we went and got a Bible together from the table and wrote on the cover “Jesus loves me”. We talked about how every page is a reminder that the Lord loves us and is for us.

I think we could all use a reminder to have childlike faith and know that in everything, the Lord works all things for good!!

She hugged this bible every minute once she got it and kept showing everyone!
