Abba: God as father

lately, Abba’s been teaching me a lot about how he’s my perfect heavenly father and i’m his kid. we’re family. he’s my dad.

my dad truly sets an example of what Abba’s unconditional love is for me. he’s someone who helps me figure out how to handle all the crazy things life throws at me. someone who sits with me patiently as i struggle to understand something. someone who holds me when i cry. someone who loves me no matter what i do or say.

the other day, my teammate megan and i watched the movie “taken,” an intense action movie where a daughter is kidnapped and the dad goes on this huge adventure to find her and get her back home. he does THE MOST to get his daughter back. he does everything he can. he flies across the world, hunts down person after person trying to track her down, and gets rid of anyone who stands in the way between him and his daughter. during the movie i kept thinking, “oh my gosh, my dad would totally do this.” and it’s true, i know if something happened to me, my dad would do anything and everything he could to save me.

the more i thought about it, the more i realized that this is what Abba does for me, too. actually, he already did it and continues to do it, day in and day out. he loves me that much. i was lost and broken, and Abba did everything he could to get me back. he was tempted, tortured, and mocked just to give me the choice to love him back. just for the chance that i might accept him and follow him.

Abba is the most powerful being ever and he loves me. he died for me because he just loves me that much. because i’m his kid. he’sthe me heavenly father. now that’s what i call unconditional fatherly love.

thanks, dad, for continuing to show me Abba’s love for me! i love my fathers!

with love, maddie
