i’m sitting in a cloud. in a beautiful, foggy cloud. everything is hazy and unclear, but i know you’re still there. you’re always working. you’re always good. you’re always working for good. even though i can’t see it now, i know you’re moving. i trust you. there’s nothing i can do, it’s all you. you’ve never let anyone go before, and i know you’re not going to give up now or ever. so i thank you for the cloud. thank you for not showing me how you’re moving and what you’re doing. thank you for giving me this opportunity to trust you and surrender. i give it to you. all the rooms.

thank you for the sunshine. i know it’s coming. thank you for the blue skies. thank you for being you.

this is something i wrote in my journal a few days ago. i’m sharing this bc praying surrender has helped me grow a lot and i want to encourage y’all to do the same, too!

& i’m starting to realize how beautiful the clouds are. they might seem like just one color of gray, but they’re all different heights and have hints of orange, blue, and purple in them. even in the mystery, there’s beauty.

& what’s so crazy is that literally MINUTES after i wrote this in my journal, the fog cleared and the sun came out! how crazy is our God!

& something else! the first morning i woke up at the base in guatemala, i looked out the window and was completely taken aback by this gorgeous view of a volcano right out of the window in our bathroom. it was beautiful! the next morning, it was a little foggy, and i couldn’t see the volcano. but that didn’t mean it wasn’t there. the volcano didn’t go away.
i think that it’s like that with God sometimes. we feel like he’s not there, but he’s been there all along, even in the foggy clouds.

thanks for reading. i love you guys <3

love, maddie

prayer request of the week:

fundraising! i know, i know, i bring this up all the time, but i have exactly one month before my final fundraising deadline! there’s about $5,000 left to go. i’m so so thankful for everyone who has supported me so far! i really appreciate it! you can help financially support me by clicking the blue “donate” button under my name at the top of the page. any amount counts! and it’s all tax deductible, too 🙂 and prayer support would mean a lot, as well! i encourage you all to prayerfully consider supporting me on my world race gap year. thank you thank you thank you!

spanish of the week:

“maca” (pronounced “mock-ah”) means hammock. we’ve all got our eno hammocks hung up all over the base. i love love love it.
