Last week was officially 2 months since we began the race! In month 2 we went to Louisiana twice and partnered with Samaritans Purse to help with disaster relief, moved about 6 times, had an organization called come One Race teach us about racial reconciliation and my team lead church one week! Also we got to do laundry with real washers and dryers for the first time in 2 months and it was life changing.

Our first travel day! We had McDonald’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner then stopped in a random parking lot to watch the sunset. It was a really good day:)

We all had to put on these suits before we did a mud out on a super moldy house from rain damage. A mud out is basically taking the walls, floors and ceilings down so a contractor can come in and completely redo the inside. The guy in the front was our leader, Palmer. He was an incredibly empowering and a great storyteller.

Our team and a homeowner named Bud! Bud served in the military for 23 years and has lived in his house since the 70s. He had so much peace despite his home being damaged. After we finished each home, we would present the homeowner with a Bible.

During the week we learned about racial reconciliation all 4 squads of gap year got to learn and worship together. Normally we’re in separate rooms live streaming the teachings but this week we went in a huge field and stayed socially distanced. The teachings were incredible and really opened my eyes to the realities of racism in America and white privilege.

My team led church one Saturday night! Becca spoke about the body of Christ which was a perfect way to start a week of ministry in Louisiana. Cat and Chloe led worship and then we had donuts and chocolate milk!

We carved a pumpkin with a pocket knife because why not.

The 2nd time we went to Louisiana we helped several homeowners on the same street. Every person on this street was some how related and they all made us feel like family. During lunch Eugene played us guitar and we all worshipped together!

Before and after we got a tree off the roof of a house and I learned how to use a chainsaw that day!

My teammates giving a bible to one of the homeowners we served. This was Marsha she was filled with stories and the love of the Lord literally overflowed out of her.

My team!! I just love them so so much and can’t believe I get to live this life with them 🙂

I’m still about $3,500 from being fully funded! Thank y’all so much for your continued prayers and support!
