Brotherhood can be a healing thing.
Brotherhood can be a beautiful way to see Christ’s love for the church.
Good brotherhood speaks into your identity.
On the World Race, I’ve gained 4 new brothers. And they are absolutely precious.
As they are very special to me, I want to introduce you to them :):

•Taylor•
Tay Tay is our squad leader. He’s allergic to bananas, he loves dad jokes, and he consistently calls us to “get out of the boat”. He recognizes what it’s like to “stay in the boat” because it seems safe and comfortable. But he also knows what it’s like to take a step of faith, and walk on the water because your eyes are on Jesus. He encourages us and empowers us all the time, even when he’s struggling. He leads us from a place of joy and trust in Christ.
Tay’s also a good friend. He seeks after us as individuals and people with potential. He pours out love and quality time, despite being an introvert (INFP let’s gooooo). And his puns are the best. No cap. They’re great.

•Danny•
Dan is basically a golden retriever. He’s so kind and full of energy. He persistantly seeks people out just to love on them, even when there’s nothing to gain from it. Dan is patient and understanding, someone who serves, and someone who leads with gentleness. He inspires me because he strives to put God first in his life. He genuinely cares about everyone he meets. One time, he even bought me a pop and payed for my bus fare, just because he could. I could, too, but he just wanted to. God has shown me through him that I am worthy of being sought out, and capable of being loved well. I love laughing with him on plane rides and such, fake fighting him, and oh, also that one time we were in a cop car (… trying to find our hostel. Not breaking the law). He doesn’t eat fried food, and he loves Ohio State. And that’s my friend Dan.

•Kyle•
As God goes to great lengths to express His love, so does Kyle. Kyle has randomly swept and mopped the kitchen for me, given me lots of hugs when I’ve needed them, and executed extravagant plans all for sake of a smile. He loves classic music, (he’s on Jailhouse Rock right now), and he loves directing. Right now he’s filming a short film with the rest of the boys. Aaaand if he finds a big stick out in nature he will likely keep it, or turn it into a lightsaber. And that’s Kyle.

•Nathan•
Nathan lives from a place of deep kindness and deep joy. He has intimacy with God as not only his father, but his friend, and seeks to give that out to people. He’s personally shown me what it’s like to be seen, remembered, and valued without doing anything to earn it (as Abba loves us..). He’s free in the way he lives, and he encourages the rest of the squad to live freely, too. Aside from that, he’s a prophet and a future barista 🙂
Each one of these guys has taught me something new about Christ, about life, or about myself. And it’s funny because, I don’t talk to all of them often. God is just really good. His character just shines through. Really, when I see my brothers, I see God’s character. I see the way that He loves, and He pursues, and He has hilarious joy. We’re all ordinary people, but God is extraordinary. He just chooses us to be vessels for His goodness.
So thanks God for good brothers. Thanks for their willingness to look like You. And thanks God that they love with their lives.
Until next time,
Ky
