Hey everyone!
It has been such an awesome journey getting to this point and time truly has flown by since I committed to going to Costa Rica. I’m amazed how many people have sponsored me and prayed for me as I prepare to launch. From the bottom of my heart, thank you! I’m so excited to have this opportunity and cannot wait to see how God uses the whole team!
From the first day I was accepted into the semester program up to this point I have been believing for God to provide all the funds for me to be a part of this mission. He has been so faithful and I’ve seen multiple unexpected donors commit to giving this week. There were some points during this fundraising journey that appeared to be daunting, but now being so close to my 100% fundraising goal I’m pumped! This whole year I have noticed a pattern in achieving certain goals, it’s all about being content in where God has me.
Perspective has been a powerful part of this fundraising process and was a huge factor which made my freshman year amazing. Before starting my first semester at UB, I was frustrated that I would be attending a university so close to home and going to a college that was not at the top of my list. Prayer and seeking God during that time was the main reason I was able to shift my perspective. I learned to appreciate where God had me and realized there’s a reason why He placed me at this specific university.
Now looking back I now know confidently that God’s timing is perfect. Both semesters of my freshman year were filled with conversations and moments that were situations that only God could have purposefully planned. This year I was involved on my campus in multiple clubs and organizations, but my highlight of the whole entire year was the opportunity to be a part of a student led CHRISTIAN movement on my campus called Awaken (below there are pictures of the Awaken team members). When I committed to UB I had no clue this organization would start up during my second semester of my freshman year, but God did. The opportunity of being able to meet so many students on fire for God and being able to stand in agreement with them about sharing God’s love on our campus has allowed me to grow in my own walk with the Lord.
I didn’t know what to expect when I went into my first year of college, but I knew God placed me there for a reason. I’m going into this mission trip with that same perspective. I do not know what to expect, but God opened the doors for me to go on this trip and I’m know He will move mightily in Costa Rica.
