Well, yesterday I woke up with the intention to tackle my ToDo List of things that have to be done before I leave for the World Race. First on my ToDo List was scheduling an appointment for my yellow fever vaccination. When I woke up I started researching travel clinics near me, while I was laying in bed, haha I scroll through different website I come across a public health announcement that there is a shortage on the yellow fever vaccination in the US and it will not be replaced until 2020. I ran downstairs, in a panic to go tell my mom and she instructed me to go on the CDC website and find the closest place that still had the vaccination. I ended up calling Emory’s travel clinic in Atlanta because they had the vaccination.
After clicking through automatic menus my call finally goes through to a person, but she seems very unsure about the availability of an appointment before I have to leave. The only available appointment was October 2, and that would be too late because I leave October 4th. We continue our conversation she begins to inform me that the cost for the appointment will be $123 because of the number of countries I will be travelling to, and the yellow fever vaccination will cost $246. The whole total for both would be $369 and neither are covered by insurance.
Although it seemed there was no hope for an appointment, she decided to get my information anyways, and once I am done giving her my information her schedule pops up and she says “Ohh it looks like we have a cancellation”. I ask when is the available appointment is and she responds… “tomorrow”. Knowing I do not have the money to pay for the doctor visit or the vaccination I say, “okay I’ll take it”.
Once I got off the phone I had such a peace that it would all work out. This was God-ordained and there was no way all of this was a coincidence. I began calling close friends, texting friends, messaging group messages and posted on all social media. In less than 6 hours God provided all the money. I felt like I had whiplash from all the emotions and how fast everything happened.
I made videos to post on FB and Instagram on my porch outside when it was raining and I just could not help myself from tearing up. I was watching Yahew before my eyes take care and water all the plants and trees while providing for me in an intimate relationship. I was overwhelmed with joy and thankfulness. What a good God we serve.
Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Today, August 27 I went to get my vaccination and the travel Dr and nurses were so kind, informative and personable. This whole experience has been a huge gift.
