“When I said I’d follow you anywhere, did I really mean it if anywhere means here? Am I okay with being called to stay still?” Is a prayer I wrote on November 18th when I was praying about the Race.
As you could’ve guessed, I’ve been called to stay still (sort of) let me explain!
Adventures in Missions has announced their new plan. Due to the fact that lots of countries borders are still closed and it’s still not safe, they have given the option for us to spend 4 months at their base in Gainesville, Georgia cultivating community, learning about missions, leadership, intimacy with Christ, doing local missions, and mostly just growing in relationship with Christ! After the 4 months, we’ll launch in January on a 6 month trip to potentially new and safer countries.
I don’t know what your first thought is reading this, but I know mine was a whirlwind of “This isn’t what I signed up for! People are going to be disappointed they gave me money to go overseas and now I’m staying in the states before I go anywhere. Thats going to be so boring, what if I already know everything they’ll teach us?” As I began to sit back, pray, fast, and talk to so many awesome mentors of mine, I saw the Lord’s hand in this plan. Being completely honest, it was a lot of wrestling with God. One of my sweet squamates and friend, Mary, put it this way: What if a country like Thailand or Swaziland would have been added, would we be disappointed then? No! His children need Him just as much here as they do in Romania, India, and Costa Rica. So American is just a country added!! And one that needs Jesus’ love badly, too. Truly, in the simplest words possible, I believe this will be such a sweet time of growth for me before I bring this joy and love across the World! Bottom line is, none of this is a surprise to God. When he called me to The World Race a year ago, He knew corona would happen. He knew I’d be confused and sad trying to make a decision. And he knew what this discipleship would be. How sweet that the same God who made the mountains and stars cares about me enough to send me to a place to get to know Him more and become more like Him every day!

When I told God I’d follow him anywhere, I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be here but I am so glad it is. I hope you’re excited to see how God will work in me and how He’ll work in others through me. The Lord is definitely working.
