rainbows are colorful
rainbows are refreshing
rainbows are promises
home in Craiova, romania was surrounded by tall grey buildings, a city atmosphere. as month 3 began to end the sky became dully overcast, the weather turned extremely cold for this texan gal and the towering grey buildings seemed to illuminate a sense of heaviness. being in a country that was once communistic carried an indescribable weight. our daily ministry consisted going into the streets, coffeehouses, parks or malls evangelizing. the people were so kind and incredible to talk to, once you spoke to them that is. out and about they minded their own and in passing they would never smile to say hello. although my squad didn’t receive much in return, we were interruptible smiling and greeting those who we encountered. as time inched closer to us departing romania and entering our new home in guatemala, our alumni team leaders began speaking so highly of guatemala and the ministries they did on their race last year. they spoke of promises.
romania was prophesied to be barren but people were speaking out that guatemala was going to be fruitful.
a land of promise. a land of color.
instead of only listening to others words for guatemala i sat down and asked Abba what He had to say to me about the promises in guatemala. i don’t know what all He has instore for guatemala but its incredibly different from what country we came from. this time here just feels warm and rainbow like. the people here are joyous, they are very friendly and family oriented (they smile back ! !) it makes sense why this place feels like a rainbow, the people, the culture, the colors… but rainbows are more than beauty and happy feels. they symbolize promises:
promises for x squad (& for me) in guatemala
- giggles
- “i will teach you the way I see people”
- outward restoration
- rest in the rainbow
- “you will still have to choose me, look to Job for guidance…”
He never promises easy nor does He promise no trouble. but He does promise He is worth it. so, yes, this land feels like a rainbow but walking with Him daily is also a rainbow-like feeling. circumstances or home locations fluctuate but no matter where you are, in a heavy cold dull place or in a colorful warm and friendly atmosphere, He still promises He is worth it.
much love,
emi
