– This Week in the World of World Race America –
This week was such a life changing week in more ways than one. I am in awe of the things God is doing in me in such a short amount of time. We had the biggest blessing of a team from Guatemala coming in to teach us about intimacy with God, evangelism, and the Holy Spirit. I have truly never had teaching quite like this. The team is truly living their life as ministry each and every day. It is something I am currently striving to learn, so after the reentry I am able to live each day like I am in ministry mode. They literally prayed for healing over a woman in Kroger who was about to faint, this woman after the prayer says, “oh I feel great.” Like y’all this was in Kroger, how easy is that? I am going to give a few stories of the week; I know a lot of people have been curious of what a day to day looks like, so I am going to try to write a blog similar to this each week.
We started the week getting to learn about having an intimate relationship with God and how to carry his mission wherever we go. God calls for the church to go and do work in his Kingdom. Like wow he trusts us to go and do his good works, is that not just amazing? I also think of mission as loving one another, which is wild because when speaking on intimacy a word that came to mind was love. 1 John 4:7 says “Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” We absolutely have to love one another, because love comes from God. This literally blew my mind when I read this verse. First of all, God called us his friend, how cool is that? We are friends to the one who created heaven and earth. Secondly, I found this verse so comforting, because it shows once again that God loves us through everything; the good the bad the ugly he literally loves us unconditionally. How lucky are we?
I was lucky enough to be paired with Sabrina during the first day of ministry, we hit the streets and by streets, I mean strip mall and Dunkin Donuts. Which is actually a “normal” day at home. Going to get some breakfast because my family personally eats out constantly, and then doing a little grocery shopping or just plain ole shopping. We begin in Dunkin where we both felt to go, we grab a coffee and tea and have a seat near a group of freshman girls. I felt so led to go and talk to these young girls, but what am I going to say? Luckily, they were playing some sort of game, that was my way in. I asked the girls what game they were playing, and they told my Dungeons and Dragons, which I had no idea even existed (which they found funny). They began explaining the game and let me just tell you these girl’s minds were SO creative. As we continued to talk, I saw something you definitely do not see often enough in today’s culture. Y’all these girls were literally telling each other how awesome they each are as we are standing there. I have such a heart for watching young girls empower instead of tearing each other down. You could see the love in this group of girls, which is funny enough what we are called to do LOVE.
We continued to train with the team over the next day, we went to AIM and from there we ventured out. I was partnered with my mentor Teresa and Andrew my teammate. We were in a housing complex and simply just stopped to ask the Lord where to go. Andrew and I instantly said “Q” for the sake of confidentiality. As we were walking toward this building we were praying and asking the Lord what number apartment. I instantly said “7” and it felt so right. We walked up the stairs and knocked on the door, and unfortunately there was no one home. We began to ask the Lord about the family. Teresa and Andrew both heard peace and I saw a vision of 2 children playing in a field. We prayed over the home and left. We went back down the stairs and just began to chat with a family that our team was chatting with and you’re never going to guess who came home? That’s right number 7. We went back upstairs to chat with them, and they graciously let us into their homes. We begin to hear about their lives, and you are never going to guess how many kiddos he has? He has TWO kids, like how crazy is that? This was super encouraging to me, because this was literally the first door I have ever just walked up and knocked on. I felt such a sense of joy in that moment knowing I was hearing and seeing from God. How cool is that? Teresa, Andrew, and I ended the night well and was able to pray over the household which was super encouraging for me. I feel so blessed to be a part of these sorts of things because I always thought it was out of my “realm.”
This week ended up being super influential in my walk with God, and I cannot wait to share more indepth of what has been going on in my spiritual life. I am still in the processing stage and want to be able to be completely open in the next blog (which will be over this all.) Thank you all so much for following my journey and supporting me!
