Listening for God’s voice

I have always wanted to hear from God, to actually hear his voice but I have never been able to. I knew that this trip would be something special and it sure was.

On Tuesday (February 4th) I, personally, had a horrible day in ministry. I was so discouraged and felt like I wasn’t supposed to be here. I felt so out of place and unqualified. I had a talk with one of my team leaders and decided I needed to start reading the book of John.

The next day I did and read John 1-5. I read about lots of people that Jesus healed and I just had a feeling (God talking to me!!!!!!) that I would get to see a healing that day. As we went on to ministry I was in a really good group. I was with 2 of my teammates and a translator. Josh and Jo. What a team! We walked around the community and met a lady who was sitting out side her home. We asked if we could come in and she said yes but said she was sick. We asked what was wrong and she said it was her legs. Jo said she wanted to read some scripture to her so we all pulled out our bibles and read John chapter 5. The story of when Jesus heals the lame man. I HAD JUST READ THAT EARLIER IN THE DAY! I knew we would see something amazing.

Josh asked if we could lay hands on her and pray for her. So we did. Josh said a wonderful prayer and after, we asked how she felt. She said she had cramping in her legs so Jo asked to pray again. Jo said a wonderful prayer as well.

After that Josh asked if she believed that Jesus had healed her and she could stand up. Sooooo we took her hands and she STOOD UP. Then Jo asked if she could take a step… SHE TOOK MANY STEPS. It was amazing. I was so proud of my team and how they listened to God. It was truly amazing. I knew God could still work miracles but to actually see it right in front of my face was totally different.

That day (Wednesday February 5th) was completely different from the previous day.

Moving on to Thursday (February 6th) I got up early and read 5 more chapters in John. It was still about Jesus and things He was doing in just his every day to day life.

As I was getting ready for the day I put on my Nikes and just had a feeling that that was going to be the last time I was going to wear them. I packed my Chacos in my backpack because I knew I was going to give my tennis shoes away.

Once we got going into ministry we went to a house that had many people there but we were only able to really talk with 2 of them. We told them about God and all he had done for us and how loving and accepting he was. We spent a lot of time at that one house and at the end we got to pray the prayer of salvation with them. As we stood to pray, I noticed that the lady’s shoes had holes where her toes were sticking out. I asked the translator if he could ask her if she needed new shoes. I knew I was supposed to give mine away. He checked to make sure that I had extra shoes to put on because he didn’t want me to walk around without some on. I told him I had some with me and I wanted to give them to her. THEY FIT HER PERFECTLY. After that she was jumping up and down and my heart was happy.

Through all of this I learned that you really do need to be in the Word to hear from

God. While in this trip so far I’ve had teammates say they heard from God and it made me upset that I haven’t been able to. I finally decided to read His word and that’s when he talked to me. He was waiting on me! He speaks to everyone differently and I’m so so happy I finally was able to experience that.

Life is so much sweeter with God in it and it’s so much more amazing when you can actually hear from Him too.

I’m excited to see what else God will talk to me about and what else He is going to do.

If you are still reading, thank you! I know this is kinda long. I just want to say that this has been a long 2 weeks of my life and I still have 2 and a half more months to go but God is on the M O V E. He did amazing things at training camp and He’s doing amazing things in South Africa. Can’t wait to see what Swaziland and Lesotho have in store.

Love y’all so much, Casey Lee??
