When we found out that our ministry this month would include working at a school I was elated. Being at a local special needs school 3 mornings a week has allowed me a sense of home in Malaysia. Here are a few of the highlights from our time at the school as well as simply living out our motto “Life is Ministry, Ministry is life.”

-Learning the names of all the students. There is a sense of belonging when you are known by name and can address others by name as well.

-Dancing to worship songs with the students and staff for morning aerobic exercise.

-Receiving smiles and high fives from the students every morning upon our arrival.

-Creating art with the students.

-Discussing educational practices with the teachers.

-Hugs/cheek kisses from Grandma R at Thursday church services.

-Daily chats with Prema, our hosts mother.

-Cooking and serving family style meals with Prema.

-Hand washing dishes. (Funny, how this is something that has also brought a sense of home and belonging. At home I definitely prefer to load as much as I can into the dishwasher.)

-Experiencing worship in a different language. While I can’t understand the words that are sung in Tamil I can feel the heart of worship of the church members. They adore the Lord. They are hungry for more and more of God in their lives. They are seeking breakthrough in their own lives and the lives of those around them.

-Sharing my testimony through the lens of Isaiah 43 at church last Thursday.

Well, that’s all for now folks. 🙂
