Hello and welcome to my journey! I’m so glad you’re here!

To begin, I’d like to share a little bit about who I am and why I’m here. For all of my life, I’ve had a deep love for people. Any and all people. Two summers ago, I traveled to El Salvador with my church on what would be my first ever mission trip. I loved it so much that I went back the next year. And then, two weeks later, I boarded a plane for Uganda, where I would spend two weeks serving in a place that would change my life forever.

You see, it was there in the beautiful continent of Africa, away from my family, my friends, and the fast-paced American lifestyle that I realized just how many people across the globe are living in hopelessness and desperation, without access to the resources I often take for granted at home on a daily basis. This realization instilled in me a deep desire to love people well. To want to know and appreciate everyone’s unique story, and to tell them my own. To demonstrate Jesus’ love to them in an effort to provide healing and comfort in the midst of brokenness. Out of this grew my desire to spread this type of love across each and every nation. To follow Jesus’ calling for my life and to pursue his plans for me.

It’s sort of like an addiction, serving Jesus. You become so filled with his love that you can’t help but go out and tell others about him! So that’s what I’m doing. I have decided to dedicate 9 months of my life to serving God in South Africa, Ecuador, and Cambodia through the World Race Gap Year, a program in which myself and a group of other young adults like me will embark on the journey of a lifetime. Where we will be the hands and feet of Jesus through natural disaster relief, in medical clinics and hospitals, in orphanages and schools, and in the homes and villages of people living in these three countries.

Sitting here at my computer and writing this is filling me with so much joy and excitement and making me so eager for launch day! From here on out, I’ll be using this blog as a platform to share with you all of the happenings in regards to this next chapter of my life. I am committing to being open, vulnerable, and real with you all in an effort to accurately portray my successes, struggles, and feelings along what I know will be the craziest ride of my life thus far.

If you haven’t heard it before, let me be the first to tell you about the unconditional love of Jesus. The kind of love that makes you want to jump for joy and sing and dance even in the midst of a hurting, broken world. It is his love that has led me to this place. That has given me the strength to say yes to this calling to serve him. I invite you to stand in his love with me. To walk alongside me in this journey, and to watch his love grow in and through this adventure in what I know will be incredible in every way.

In His love,

Caroline 🙂
