Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I made a blog post, so I just wanted to take a second and update everyone on my life so far and my journey as I prepare for the Race. As of today, I am over 70% funded!!! This is unbelievable to me and I cannot thank you guys enough. I am absolutely amazed at how God has worked through each and every one of my supporters. When I first made the decision to go on the Race, my biggest concern was fundraising. I’ve only been going to my church for a few years, so I haven’t developed that many relationships with people there. A lot of my friends are focusing on working and saving my money for college, so I wasn’t expecting a lot of support from them. I honestly was at a complete loss for how I would ever raise $15,800.
But then God stepped in, and I could almost hear Him telling me to calm down, that everything would be alright. And He couldn’t have been more right. I have just been stunned with all the support I am getting. I love getting messages from people I haven’t talked to in years, telling me they are praying for me or asking me questions. And please keep them coming! I will happily answer any questions anyone has about what I will be doing or my decision to do so. I love talking about what the future holds for me.
With that being said, I still have many fundraisers in the works. I am in the process of designing shirts to sell, and I will be making an announcement soon with more information. I also will be having a garage sale and bake sale once the weather warms up, and hopefully a fundraiser at a local shake and tea bar. Keep an eye out on here for further updates, as well as my social media (Instagram: brooklyn.dilley ; Facebook: Brooklyn Dilley).
As for my life right now, the only word that comes to mind is hectic. I’m approaching finals week in high school, and am about to start my second semester of criminal justice classes at the local community college. I am still working a lot and helping out at church, and mock trial season has just started. I’ve been slowly buying gear for the Race, and combined with gifts I got for Christmas, I’m feeling much more prepared in that arena. I’m also getting to know my amazing squad more and more every day, and I even got to meet one of the lovely girls in person last week as she passed through Des Moines with her dad (Abby, if you’re reading this, you are such a sweet, beautiful girl and I can’t wait to do life with you <3) To say I’ve been busy is a bit of an understatement.
I can get overwhelmed pretty easily, and writing down everything I have to get done before I leave in September both freaks me out and helps me stay organized. Looking at all of the assignments I have to get turned in, tests I have to take, planning for graduation I have to do, and everything else makes me feel like my head is about to explode. It is taking me a while, but I’m working on getting my priorities straight and making time for the important things, while remembering not to stress about the little things.
So there you have it! There’s a little glimpse into my life as it is going right now. It’s not super exciting, but it’s definitely keeping me on my toes. I know this hasn’t been the most thrilling blog post, but I just wanted to give you guys a quick update amidst all the chaos of senior year. And I wanted to thank all of you so so much again, because I truly could not do this without your prayerful and financial support. As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions, prayer requests, or anything else that may be on your mind 🙂
With love,
Brooklyn
