This month has been far from normal. It’s crazy to even think about the fact that we are the only mission team from adventures in missions left on the field. The word that immediately comes to mind when I think of the month of March is:
CHANGE
It’s crazy how much your life can change in one month. I went from freely roaming around Philli with my team to barely going outside. I think the hardest part about the past month is not being able to go on walks. While we were in Delaware we were allowed to go on walks whenever we had free time by ourselves. Now, even before we were put in quarantine, we are not allowed to go anywhere by ourselves. Plus within the past week we now have to wear masks and gloves. I understand why but it’s been an adjustment.
Another huge change was finding out that all international missions teams run by adventures in missions was pulled from the field. I truly enjoyed reading the blogs of racers on the squads that launched with us. I know how devastated they were that they had to return home. Now we have over 500 missionaries in the states that are hungry to help. Which is amazing.
Everything has changed, nothing is the same. I went to the grocery store yesterday and had to wait in line outside the store for an hour just to go grocery shopping. When we first arrived the streets were packed with people. Now we constantly are hearing the police go up and down the streets forcing people to split up. The main issue of where I am staying is the homeless population is huge and they have nowhere to go. Otherwise the police would be telling them to go inside.
It’s hard to sit inside knowing that there are so many people outside who need our help and that there isnt much I can do about it. Change is a part of life and it’s something that everyone has to learn how to deal with it. I’m still adjusting to how ministry looks like for us currently but I know that God has a plan. I know that if he didnt need me in Philadelphia right now that I would be home.
