The first week of ministry has come to an end! That’s crazy! Time has flown by! We are currently in Roswell, Georgia. We are staying with a former racers parents who are amazing! We actually have beds to sleep in! During the week we did a variety of things for ministry.
Our first two days we were at Camp Highland. Which is a Christian camp that holds summer camps as well as corporate retreats. They let us stay in a cabin over night and feed us breakfast, lunch and dinner. On our first day we went and cleaned out the cabins that the kids stay in. After that they allowed us to do a team building exercise called islands. There were 5 pieces of wood aka the islands that were spread out across the floor. Our task get from one side of the room to the other without touching the ground. All we had to use to get across were the islands and long pieces of wood that were really heavy. After several failed attempts we finally got across. We worked really well as a team and never gave up.

The next day they took us to a hill that was covered in trash. The bears in the area like getting into the dumpsters grabbing the trash bags eating whatevers inside and then leaving a mess across the hillside. So we geared up with gloves and trash bags and went down the hill. It was very steep so it took everything in you to stay upright. I really enjoyed it though because I was helping the environment.

On Thursday we got to go to MUST ministries. They help homeless as well as low income families with different needs. We helped them sort through hundreds of toys for a toy drive they have coming up. I really enjoyed doing this because I know how excited the kids will be when they get the toys.

On Friday and Saturday we worked at 2 different homeless shelters. We worked in a women’s home on Friday and a men’s home on Saturday. We fed breakfast lunch and dinner at the homes. It was interesting to see the differences between the two homes. At the women’s home I met this one women who sells tshirts. She decided to give me a free tshirt after I had helped her with something minor. I at first said no but she insisted.

On Friday in between serving Breakfast and dinner we went and hand out bags full of food and jackets and blankets to the homeless community in Atlanta. We came across this one lady who I will call “R”. She was a true believer of God. Due to medical Bill’s she ended up homeless. She told us though about how she almost died and saw heaven. She had such an amazing spirit and was thrilled when she heard what we were doing. We prayed for her and then went on our way.
This week I really felt so refreshed and felt like I touched so many lives. I cant wait to see what the next year has in store for me.
