I do not know how much you know about the Catholic religion but I would like to share what happened last night while I was at church.

In the Catholic religion there is a mass called the healing mass.  People who have any ailments attend this mass in hopes of being healed. I have heard some incredible stories from the people who have gone to this mass but I was never sure if I believed everything I heard.

Last night my mom convinced me to go to a healing mass at my Grandpas church. I have a stomach condition that causes me a lot of pain. While it is nothing serious, it is something I wish I did not have to deal with. After about an hour and a half of mass and adoration the sick lined up to be healed. While I stood in line I noticed a young boy, no older than 10 standing behind me. I noticed he had an inhaler as well as several other medical devices. Something else I noticed was that he was standing alone. His mom was in the corner trying to tame the younger brother. Eventually the mom came over and stood with her son. My dad told her how patient her son was being. By this point we had been in line for 30 minutes. Her response is something I will never forget. Because of his medical condition he was not able to get the proper nutrients he needed and had gone the past two months hungry. My heart broke.

There I was complaining about how long I had been standing in line when the poor kid behind me was hungry. I do feel changed by last night. I knew I was meant to be there. Not for healing but in hopes of spreading this childs story so that people can pray. If you are reading this please pray for him. All he wants is to be a normal kid. To run and play sports and not have to worry about his medical condition.

It reminded me why I signed up for an 11 month mission trip. Not for the experience, not for helping others but to spread hope. Hope can be a powerful thing. The way I look at it is while I am spreading the gospel I am also spreading hope. The boy will be in my mind throughout the entire race and I hope he will be in your prayers.
