Worship, defining worship, and expressing worship to God has really been on my heart recently. I have always loved worship songs at church, but it has recently brought more significance to my life. Worship is an outward expression of an inward feeling/emotion and truly the only way we can express our love for God and give something to Him. We, as humans, tend to be really good at receiving things from God and He doesn’t have expectations of our love, but worship is a mode of showing our love, appreciation, and reverence to Him. God does not ask anything, but there is no way He isn’t pleased to see us praising Him for all the goodness in our lives that He has given to us because that is super cool.
Being together for all squad month has made me recognize all the different ways people worship and they are all beautiful and unique. The obvious and common form of worshipping is singing and while everyone has their own method/posture, it often occurs with eyes closed and hands and/or arms raised. Some of the other forms of worship I have observed or participated in have been; dance, writing, prayer, drawing, painting, and playing music. That is certainly not an exhaustive list and there are countless ways we can worship God, but really the point of this blog is that everyone can have a unique love language with God and express their appreciation for their relationship in a beautiful way.
“O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.” Isaiah 25:1
Also! Check out the song ”Wonderful God” by Montell Fish and Jonathan Ogden because I just discovered it this week and it’s pretty slick.
Also, also! Check out the song “Less of Me” by Gateway Youth. The kids from the youth camp our team went to played it ALL THE TIME and it is so catchy and energetic that you can’t help but sing along. They get wild singing it too so it’s great because I love seeing kids stoked for Jesus.
