I am in complete awe. Awe over our new home for the next 6 weeks. Awe of our host and his family. Awe of the monkeys we see up close and personal. Awe of the women and men who cook our meals. Awe of the kids who love on us. Awe of the 90° weather. Awe of the miraculous things that are going to happen here in Nicoya!

We are now in Nicoya, Costa Rica which is about 4 hours from Jaco and 30 min from any sort of town with WiFi!! This little town consist of 1 “store”, a big park with lots of kids and so many cows… like cows everywhere… It’s big change of scenery. Instead of being in the city with lots of people and tourist and beaches, we are in the valleys with some locals on the best dirt roads!

With that being said, we are in a Blue Zone! Blue zones are areas where the life expectancy is longer than usual! Typically from 95-108 years old. And guess what?? Nicoya is 1 out of 4 in the whole world!! It’s amazing seeing these older people doing things I struggle doing… they have been and will be teaching us how to live the lifestyle they live to have a longer healthier life!

Life looks a tad bit different…. to say the least.
We sleep in a one room church, shower from a hose, hand wash our clothes, eat rice and beans for breakfast lunch and dinner, sweat all day long and get this!!! Wake up call is at 5:45… AM…
To people back home that may seem like a nightmare but to my team and I it’s the biggest learning and growing opportunity EVER.

How can you not be grateful when you have people like these wonderful ladies &&these kids && this pastor loving you like crazy day in and day out??

We are still getting in the rhythm of things but so far we have done so much. We started painting this big metal roof (23x37ft) but the roof gets so hot so we have a 2 hour span a day from 7-9am to get as much done as possible.

We’ve been digging this huge hill to make the hill Ben with the ground so they can expand their church & build an add on. Lots of dirt& ants& scorpions.

Living the most simple life is bringing me the most joy I’ve ever experienced. Life may not always be easy. It may not always be comfortable and joyful. But it always manages to surprise us and to provide us with exciting opportunities for growth, especially here in Nicoya. There are so many wonderful and awe-inspiring aspects of this life that it would be difficult to list them all. I hope you see even through the few pictures that I take how needed and wanted our help is. If only everyone could experience this…

But, stating tomorrow, I will be staring a social media fast for 1 week! If you need me, message me!
Much love, bay
