the girls that I met six months ago but that I feel like I’ve known forever. my 5 roommates, encouragers, and truly the most intentional friends. I say friends, but more like sisters. Ive wanted to write a blog about them ever since training camp but figured we should live together before I say anything;)
Melanie Wells – Virginia Beach, VA. showers once a week. beyonce addict. can tear up a dance floor. instagram story enthusiast. most likely to drool on a first date. This girl has taught me tons. Mel and I are both 6w7 on the enneagram, and we are very similar. We are motivated and turned away by the same things. Mel pushes me to talk about how I am feeling and to never apologize for what I think. Mel is the person on my team that will jam out to country music with me and she makes me laugh like no other. I knew in the first month of the race that Mel would be a lifelong friend of mine. She has taught me so much about being a good friend and how being honest is so valuable in friendship. Mel is going to East Carolina University after the race and we are already making plans to visit each other. I love this girl so much!
Alexis Simmons– Telluride, CO. can’t watch a full movie. hives when stressed. puts all valuables in ziploc bags. over feeds her pets. most likely to lose her passport. Lex! This girl is one of a kind. We always joke with her because she has had some crazy experiences. She’s babysat for Thomas Rhett, accidentally tackled Taylor Swift, and lived next to famous youtubers. Lex hears the Lord’s voice so clearly and speaks life over people so well. She is one of the most intentional people I have ever met. Lex and I grew up very differently but we have found things in common from the start. I love watching Lex pray over people and use her testimony to spread the word. Lex is going to Colorado State University when she gets home, I am going to miss this girl like crazy!
Mallory Sailor– Dallas, TX. loves the chainsmokers. backwards tip toe. can always hang. birkenstock tan lines. most likely to get hit by a car. LOL that last part is a joke. This girl is a powerhouse for the Lord. Mallory is our raised up team leader and she is amazing at it and leads us so well. Mal is wise beyond her years and knows scripture like the back of her hand. Mal has shown me how powerful quiet strength is. Her humility and desire to know the Lord inspires me. We always say how she is a walking plot twist because she is so humble and sweet but can be so loud and crazy and such a fun time. I can’t wait to call her in 5 years and hear how her life is, because its going to be good! Mal isn’t 100% sure on what she’s doing after the race, but whatever it is I know her main goal will be to build kingdom.
Eva Gomez– Sacramento, CA. social justice queen. loves tortillas. cuddle expert. the perfect housewife but don’t tell her that. most likely to take over the music industry. Eva but pronounced Ava;) the one who always wants a hug and will always be there to listen. She is such a leader in venerability and has grown so so much. She has pushed herself a lot and I am super proud. Eva will always be strong in what she believes and her role on the team is so important. Her determination and ambition makes me want to be better. Eva is staying home and working after the race. She has a heart for women who have been in sex trafficking and I know she is going to do huggeee things. I’m excited to cheer you on sweet Eva!
Maddie Bailey– Austin, TX. party planning committee. music festival junkie. lice checker. walking encyclopedia. most likely to scrapbook this. The coolest only child I have ever met. Maddie plans all of our fun parties and events for our squad! She works super hard and always brings fun to the table. Maddie sees the good in everything and everyone but she is also super realistic. Maddie has brought a fresh perspective from day one. She is sooo knowledgable on literally everything. Sometimes she will say some random fact and we will all be like how in the world do you know that. Maddie is starting college next spring in Texas and I can’t wait to visit!
