The day has finally arrived.

As I’m typing this I’m sitting in the San Antonio airport waiting for my flight to Atlanta for training camp. I can’t even begin to describe all that I’m feeling, mostly just because it’s a huge conglomerate mess of excitement, anticipation, nervousness, wonder, and expectation. There’s only so much preparation that can be done for the unknown. But the unknown is where so much stretching and learning and growth happens. I don’t know what all God has in store for me on this experience, but I know it must include some kind of transformation. Why else would a biologist take her off semester to serve God’s people?

I’m so so thankful to all of you who have supported me, whether through donations, buying shirts, prayer, or just being there for me when I had doubts or fears.

Before I leave and my WiFi situation becomes less…consistent…some FAQ’s I get that you may be wondering:

Q:What countries are you going to, again?

A: Nicaragua for the first 6 weeks and Guatemala for the second 6 weeks! But we get to drive through Honduras too 😉

Q: When do you leave, and when do you get back?

A: I leave the States on January 27th and get back on April 26th

Q: What are you doing while you’re gone?

A: Haha, this is a great question and I can give you the minimal information I know! In Nic, we’re first staying at an orphanage/children’s center and helping there followed by staying and helping at a community outreach center that focuses on equipping locals to achieve and maintain a life out of poverty. In Guat, we’re staying at a community outreach that focuses on children and youth in the area. For more details, you’ll just have to follow my blog for updates!

Q: Can you contact family and friends while you’re gone?

A: The simple answer is yes, but I don’t know how consistently I will have access to WiFi. Any time I do have is precious so feel free to reach out, but if you don’t hear back, please don’t be offended or concerned! My WiFi time will be prioritized for blogging and contacting family.

Q: How do you feel? Are you excited?

A: Of course I am! I’m also nervous and feeling a little unsure of what the future holds. BUT I know with confidence that this is what I’m supposed to be doing.

Q: How can I be praying for you?

A: Safety for me and my team, team community, wisdom for our leaders and ministry partners, no homesickness or anxiety, and for relationships built on love with everyone we encounter.

Love you all, and I can’t wait to share with you all that I see and experience!
