Hey, hey, hey! I’m Angie and I am 28 years old, from the City known for the Tulip Festival (the good old city of Holland MI). I recently graduated with my Masters in Educations with an emphasis in student affairs. Since being done with grad school I have spent a lot of time with my family (I am one of 8 siblings, and I have 25 nieces and nephews!), hanging out with friends, traveled to NC and VA, and preparing myself for a fun camping trip coming up this summer.

I have gone through many life experiences that have impacted who I am now and what I am passionate about, but most recently was the experience I got last fall working with college students with disabilities and special needs in St Louis as a graduate Intern. As a social coach for a caseload of student, I had an incredible amount of time during my internship to interact with these students outside of the office; whether attending on campus events with them or inviting them to Christian group meetings with me (on and off campus). It was through these interactions, I was able to see God and His Kingdom in a new light, and even more I was able to see more of how He saw me and those students I got to work with on a day to day basis. It was also during my time at my internship, I found God continuing to show me how broken the world is and how much people need to experience His love, grace, and welcoming arms and experience who He is and is making them to be.

Recently two of my favorite songs have been “your labor is not in vein” and “the Kingdom is yours”. It was these two songs that influenced my decisions  to 1) apply to the world race, and 2) to say yes after getting accepted.

On October 3rd 2019, I will be launching onto the field to 11 different countries (Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland, India, Nepal, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania) with my World Race team. Though I believe the Kingdom of God belongs to every single person that is saved and knows Him, I believe even more the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are broken, weary, and humble. I find myself in a new season being called out to serve on the World Race to 1) reach others so that they know the same love, grace, forgiveness, and welcoming arms that God showed to me and continues to show to me, 2) be challenged in my own faith and walk with God in community; to grow and be stretched and to find how God is working in my life more, and through me and to find out more of who He is and who He says I am, 3) build my trust and dependency with Him /on Him 4) seek justice for those who are marginalized in the world,  and 5) many other reasons. So excited to prepare and be part this Journey I will be taking on the World Race.

-In Him,

Angie
