As of this week, I am over halfway to my fundraising goal (51.11%)!! The fundraising process, although humbling, has given me an unshakable confidence in God’s plan for me. Even the simplest signs of support from friends and family have served as constant reminders that God is for me and that my life is in His hands. I feel so in awe of the selflessness and generosity present in the community surrounding me. Through the unwavering support of friends and family, I have been able to experience the overwhelming love and undeserving grace that the Lord shows me each day.
God has also been teaching me in a more tangible way that everything I have belongs to Him. I know I can trust him with my life, so why not trust Him with my finances? If He has brought me to this point, His love is too good to leave me here. Nothing I could have done on my own would have enabled me to receive this much favor in terms of fundraising. As an update for everyone who has contributed (either financially or through intentional prayer), I would love to share a couple examples of God’s provision in the process.
A couple weeks ago, I received a $5,000 check with my name on it from the nursing school I was supposed to be attending this year. Due to the fact that I decided to forego my enrollment for the time being to take this leap of faith, I thought it had to be some sort of mistake; however, 100% of the money was able to go toward my fundraising goal! Meanwhile, the $5,000 deadline for the Race was taking place this week! God’s timing is always perfect, and I hope this serves as encouragement that even in the waiting, He is working all things out for our good and His glory.
Shortly after this, I was reminded yet again that I have the most amazing friends. Being completely unaware of the situation, a few of my closest friends organized “Venmo Amanda Day” as an event on Facebook and spread the word to various people in the community. On July 11, I woke up to countless Venmo notifications from teammates, peers, and close friends. By the end of the day, the donations amounted to over $1,500! I felt so loved and encouraged by the generosity of young people giving whatever they could to come alongside me. I am eternally grateful that we do not have to live out this journey of faith on our own.
“God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done.” -2 Corinthians 9:7-8 (MSG)
