Hey everyone tricked ya,
So y’all clearly know I AM going on the World Race by now, however I wanted to explain some misconceptions of why people might think I am going on the race!
I am not going on the World Race to travel the world and have fun sight seeing.
Do not get me wrong anyone would love to see 11 different countries and experience different cultures, even me. However, this trip is more than that, my team and I get to experience these poor cultures, learn from them and their love, and offer them hope by sharing God with them! This Race will not always be fun or pleasant, but that is the beauty of it. It will be rewarding and life changing and I will learn how to truly love and walk with God! This trip is not focused on yourself, but rather changing others lives for the better.
I am not going on the World Race because I do not want an adult job.
I am graduated from college with a bachelors in Computer Science and my internship lead into a job making websites after college. I get asked all the time what are you going to do with degree, or what are you doing next in your life, or when are you getting a 9-5 full time job? These are all great questions and I truly do not know the answers to all the questions. However, I do know God gave this opportunity with the World Race to me and was like I want you to put aside your desires and walk my path for your life. It is a bit scary because now I have this computer science degree, and then I have God telling me set that aside we do not need that where I am taking you. I am over here like well God you couldn’t have told me that before I got the degree, but God works in funny ways sometimes and you just gotta laugh about it! I do not know his plans for my degree or for my life, all I know is the path right now and I trust he has the rest figured out!
I am not going on the World Race because my life at home is not good!
I have a wonderful home and family in the United States and they are the most supportive people anyone could ever ask for. I never really had the struggles some people do growing up with poverty and discrimination, which I thank God for! However, I think I have grown too comfortable with my life and am not growing spiritually currently. God is using this opportunity to push my faith in Him and really push me out of every comfort zone I have. I already see this with the fundraising aspect because I find it uncomfortable to talk to people one on one if I am being honest. God is providing me the support to talk to strangers about faith and Him, just like I will do on the World Race. Also, I know the things my team and I are going to be extremely hard at times and we will have to depend on God and God alone! This is the relationship I feel as though I am missing in my comfortable life here in America. I want to experience God’s miracles first hand and perform miracles through God. I want to learn from God’s children that live so simply and find joys in every small thing God does for them! All in all my life in America is great, but where God is taking me is going to be so much better and change my relationship with him forever!
Much Love,
Zach
