This is Just the Beginning!

Somehow, we got here! Today marks our last day at New Hope for Orphans. Tomorrow morning, we will be driving to Siem Reap, a Cambodian province about 5-6 hours away. After spending the night in a hostel, we will embark on a several-hour bus ride to Bangkok, Thailand. I am getting excited to continue traveling and I am looking forward to all that I am going to learn while in our next country… however, I will really miss Cambodia!

When I first began looking into this trip, I was very interested in Thailand – who knows anything about Cambodia, anyway? I thought that I would enjoy Thailand the most and felt glad that we would be there for two months and only have to spend one here. However, God has shown me an entirely new perspective while living here. Not only have I fallen in love with the children and the home we’ve been working at, but God has shown me some very specific needs in the community as a whole. Several days ago, I began discussing the possibility of coming back here with a few of the other girls on my team. Finally, we decided to talk to our host, Vandy, about our thoughts. His response was incredibly affirming. Not only did he encourage us to come back, but he also recognized our hearts to serve the girls, who tend to stay to themselves more than the boys.
On that note, I would love it if you would partner with myself and my teammates to pray about this decision! We would love to come back here and serve for much longer than a month, but we also know that God has a lot in store for us in Thailand, as well as things He might want us to work on back in the U.S. Please pray that our hearts would be sensitive to God’s guidance for each one of us. Pray that we would trust in God to help us overcome the challenges that will undoubtedly continue to affect us.

I know that I will miss my Cambodian brothers and sisters, but God willing, I’ll see them again soon! Regardless of whether or not I come back here, I know that my journey has really only just begun, and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for our next adventure in Thailand!
