I will be leaving for Malaysia in a little less than a week. As I’m reflecting on my life these past two months, all I can say is “thank you, Lord.” Thank you for these sweet faces I get to see each day. Thank you for each moment, even the ones that were hard or exhausting. Thank you for the laughs and the friendships made. Thank you for all the things. Thank you for being here with me, through it all. Thailand for all you’ve had to offer and all you still have to offer.
Ministry these past two months have been so sweet! I have loved playing with and teaching the kids and getting to know the staff at Connie’s home. These kids are so sweet and get to grow up in a foster home where they get to hear about Jesus. I’m sad to leave them but I know that their story won’t be over just because we leave. They are being prayed for and loved on and the Lord is working in their lives as they get adopted and move to their new home.

So a few travel days and ministry days have happened since I wrote my goodbye letter to Thailand and since I arrived in Malaysia. This month, I am staying with my ministry host in their home with 16 other people. We are staying in Sungai Petani and the rest of my squad is in Penang. My hosts are from India and they are the most generous people I’ve ever met. I am beyond thankful to be here. Ministry looks a lot like prayer and intercession, volunteering at a special needs school in the mornings and volunteering and leading worship/dances/sermons at church on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday night. We also have been doing house church Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights where we share testimonies and pray for people in the community. Since it is ilegal in Malaysia for people of Islam faith to convert to any other faith, sharing the gospel can get tricky. The first day we got here, I actually got to share about Jesus with someone because they asked me why I was vegan. I got to tell them about what I believe and how the Lord speaks to me and it was a really sweet interaction. Malaysia looks and feels a lot different than Thailand and it has been a really peaceful country. I am so expectant for what the Lord will bring next!
Just a few side notes –
- We only get WiFi on Saturdays so blogs will still be posted but it is harder to give updates due to the lack of WiFi! I will be posting more blogs because there is a lot to catch up on and so many stories to tell! I’m excited to let you hear about all the things that are happening, God is moving in big ways and I’m excited for it.
- I am eating the best food I’ve had in awhile. The food here is so good and my ministry hosts make/buy lunch and dinner for us every day except Saturday. They always make sure to get me a vegan option which is honestly such a blessing. I led worship for the church here and my host said, “you’re vegan but you can sing and I don’t understand but make sure you eat to save your voice.” I’m taken care of by them in the best way and I love them a lot.
