Hey y’all Becca here!
So week one of Ecuador is in the books! Trying to get service here is difficult so WiFi is even harder to find but we are at the cutest hostal in Baños (yes it’s bathroom in Spanish but it’s also the cutest town haha). So, I thought I would take this opportunity to share what the Lord is teaching me. Today is our free day and we had the opportunity road trip to Baños which is 5hrs and 20min away from our house. Fun fact about Ecuador everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE you can look up and there is a huge mountain in front of you. With this being said during the road trip I had time to study all the details of the mountain and it reminded me of how much detail Jesus put into it, now keep this in mind it will come up again later. So tonight me, Jordan, and Alyssa some of my squadmates were at a candy shop and we met the sweetest kids named Daniel and Maria. We asked them what their favorite candy was there (bc their parents owned the shop) and after this their interest was immediately sparked and they began asking us all kinds of questions. Everything from which ones of us spoke Spanish, to where we were from, and what food we ate in America (which was their favorite topic). So of course we explained we eat fries and burgers haha and they thought this was super interesting and it got me thinking. We think it’s cool and funny when a foreigner is interested in us and all of our unique differences yet we fail daily to recognize how interested Jesus is in us. He took the time to build beautiful, huge, detailed mountains and was so interested in us that he made things like this for us to enjoy his creation. He didn’t have to do that, he doesn’t have to be interested in us, but he does and he is. Just think about that; the God that created the universe, put the stars in the sky, and put every blade of grass on that mountain is interested in YOU, yes you. The all knowing God is fascinated in us like what??? So thank him for that because he is more gracious and loving than we will ever be able to imagine.
