I was recently asked to do a blog on why I am going on the World Race, so if you are curious as to why, then here’s your answer!
The short and summarized answer to this question is because the Lord told me to, but I’m sure you want a few more details than that!
Over the past couple of years the Lord has given me a love for different cultures and a desire for missional work… to go and make disciples of all nations.
One verse in the Bible that truly sticks out to me is Romans 10:14-15…
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
How are other people in other countries supposed to build a relationship with their creator if they don’t even know who He is or that there is a God who loves them and longs to have an intimate relationship with them? Someone must tell them of the beauty of the gospel, and this is something that God has really stirred in my heart!
Another reason I said yes to the Father is found in Matthew 10:7-8…
And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
God has freely given me salvation, grace, mercy, and so much more; therefore, I must freely share that with others! I must let others know that the God of this universe wants to give them a gift and all they have to do is say yes! They don’t have to work for it; they don’t have to earn it; they don’t have to do some impossible thing to achieve it; they simply have to say yes!
I have experienced the freedom of the Father, and it’s such an amazing thing, so I have to let others know that they don’t have to live in fear and bondage any longer!
Sometimes as Americans we forget that there are other parts of the world; that there are people on the other side of the ocean. We get so caught up in our daily lives doing whatever we want not realizing that there are some people who don’t get to do what they want; they are enslaved to unending work, and they live in a state of survival at all times. This isn’t the life that Jesus desires for us. In John 10:10 He says…
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
He came to give us life more abundantly!!!
(I’m imagining Adam and Eve before they sinned, how they walked with God in the cool of the day!)
So truly the question shouldn’t be “Why?”; the question should be “Why not?”
Now, I’m not saying that the Lord calls all people to go on the World Race, and that if you don’t go you’re a terrible person. The World Race is simply the route that God had prepared in advance for me to do.
BUT rather what I am saying is why would you not say yes to Jesus, and what He has called you to do?
A song that always gets me, and I encourage you to listen to is “Obedience” by Lindy Conant. This is a very convicting song that talks about surrender and obedience toward the Father!
Now I realize that this blog is getting a little long, but I have one last thing to announce:
For the month of May I am doing a fundraiser through Go Rings which is a jewelry company that partners with people going on mission trips. So, whenever you purchase something in my name I get 30% of your order.
It’s really easy, simply go to GoRings.com…. choose what you want to buy… and at check out you can select my name to help support! They sell earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets. And the great thing is that it’s all hypoallergenic!!! Perfect gifts for family, friends, and /or yourself!
