I cannot believe we are in month two of this journey already! It is hard to sum up in words all that I have been learning on the World Race so far. The last month has been a lot of learning to do life with my squad and teammates and learning to embrace the Unscripted lifestyle. If you don’t know, I began the World Race knowing that my route was focused on listening to what the Lord is speaking to us that day and responding to that. We have no host, but we travel as a team sowing Kingdom seeds into the lives of people we encounter on a daily basis. The Lord lead us to 6 different cities so far between Peru and Chile, have had our first 28 hour bus ride, and have already had team changes during our first debrief as a squad. It has been a time of learning to embrace this Unscripted journey and how to come together as a team and respond to the impressions God is putting on our hearts. It has been an incredible last month in so many ways, and I have cried so many times because of just how good He has been to me, but I’m also not going to lie that I have wrestled with some things in the process and have had to choose to press into the Father’s truth over me so many times in the last month. He is always faithful to speak to us in such kind, gentle ways, and is always speaking truth over us.
One of the promises the Lord gave me at the beginning of this race was Psalm 16:8-11. This is my verse for the year:
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. – Psalm 16:8-11
At a later time, I felt drawn to read the book of Acts. When I got to Acts 2, I realized that Peter was quoting Psalm 16:
David was looking into the future and speaking of the Messiah’s resurrection. He was saying that God would not leave him among the dead or allow his body to rot in the grave. “God raised Jesus from the dead, and we are all witnesses of this. Now he is exalted to the place of highest honor in heaven, at God’s right hand. And the Father, as he had promised, gave him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today. – Acts 2:31-33
One of the things I realized after reading this that in Jesus’ resurrection we were promised a Holy Spirit. We have been promised the joy of His presence and living with Him forever. He has not left our souls among the dead, we do not have to hold on to old mindsets or partner with lies that do not line up with who He says we are. We get to walk in the abundant, resurrected life that Jesus has given us the victory for. What a blessing it is to be able to live in the presence of Holy Spirit and receive the truths He is speaking over us that our hearts need. He shows us the way of life, we get to let His presence make us new! We get to follow Him with such joy in knowing that He is right along side us in this journey.
Please enjoy a glimpse of what God has done in the last month in Peru ๐
Worship with my squad & leadership during training camp in Cusco, Peru were some of my favorite moments in January. The hostel hosts even were able to join us!
Our squad coach hugging the host of our first hostel in Peru. Her name was Maritza and she gave the biggest momma hugs and was such a blessing to us while we stayed in Cusco. It was so fun to see how God was moving in their lives and being able to invite them into our times of worship as a squad.
We went to a little shop and this sweet child had the time of his life entertaining us!
The elevation was a bit rough on our hike up Rainbow Mountain in Peru, but our guide was so encouraging and kind to us. I had fun sitting and talking with him on the way back to town.
One of our last nights in Cusco, we got to eat at a restaurant where this kind couple blessed us with some chocolate covered fruit after our meal and more. They were so excited to have our squad at their restaurant.
My team and I were invited by one of the guys at our hostel to go on a tour with him and his friends, so we went! We had so much fun building relationship with them and we even got to spend some good time with our new friends Lucas and Julia for a day after that.
And finally,
here’s an alpaca ๐
Thanks for reading! I am excited to share more of what God does here in Chile this month. I still need about $3,870 to stay on the World Race. Thanks to all my friends & family for your love, prayers and support. ๐
