Ethiopia Ministry

Wow a month in Ethiopia has passed, and it has been so cool to see God move. My team’s main focus in the morning is manual labor this has looked like; digging, moving bricks, and cutting grass by hand. It has been really refreshing to work with my hands in the morning and make time for good conversations with my teammates. In the afternoon my team splits up some of us go to reforestation, others teach english to the women who work in the leather workshop, and others work with the kids who live at the on base orphanage. I go to childrens ministry, and it has been so awesome! It is so fun playing with and teaching the kids. Not to mention it makes me get over my germaphobic tendencies!:) In this time with the kids we do art, sports, english, cultural learning, etc. Ethiopia has been a huge adjustment from Guatemala, it is hard not speaking the local language, and even more so because the area we stay in is pretty isolated, and we aren’t allowed to leave the base very much. At the start I had a hard time with not being able to interact with the community. God has really reshaped my perspective. He has shown me that by pouring into the children I am pouring into the future of the community, these kids are christian and a minority in the village they have the potential to reshape the community in just a few years. God has also been showing me that it is a great place to get rid of distractions and really dive in deeper to my relationship with him. I am so excited to see what God has for these next two months in Ethiopia. Thanks again for your prayers and support! Until next time.
