Due to our WiFi, I cannot post a video so here is just a regular blog answering your questions.

A little run down of where we are:

We are in Heidelberg, Western Cape, South Africa. It is a very Dutch Reformed town. English and Afrikaans are the two languages spoken here. Ministry looks different everyday and we usually find out the night before what the plan is for the next day. However, we usually are at the school and Bible college that our hosts run everyday. It is very small and quiet here but had breathtaking views.

Now for your questions:

1. How is this trip different from other mission trips you have been on, both physically and spiritually?

In the past, I have been to Haiti four times for a week and India for a month and this trip is quite different. Our ministry has looked more like what it looks like in everyday life which something we can take home with us. On past trips, I have not received so many prophetic words or images for people just randomly like I have here. I can confidently say I have never been more in love with God than I am on this trip. We have very deep spiritual conversations that night that have helped grow in my relationship with the Lord as well! In addition, physically, it is very cold here. It is winter here and everywhere else I have been has always been summer with lots heat and humidity. Our adopted big brother, Jonathan, makes us a fire every night so we stay warm.

2. Has God revealed himself to you in a new way on this trip?

Yes and no. I am still getting prophetic words which I started getting in India last summer. However, like I said above, I have been getting them more frequently and more for random people. At training camp, he revealed an image to me for some one and that was the first time he revealed an image to me that was not for me.

3. Have you had any spiritual revelation?

At training camp, I was given the word “Abide”. This month he has been teaching me what it looks like to abide/rest in him. He also gave me an image during worship when we were singing “Lean Back” by Capital City Music (10/10 recommend you listen to it) during the chorus which says “I will lean back in the loving arms of a beautiful father. Breathe deep and know that he is good. He’s a love like no other”.  The image was of me falling back into his arms and resting with him. I started to cry because I haven’t been able to just rest and just rest in him since last August before classes started. It was a beautiful image to get before coming to South Africa. I feel that he called me into a season of rest and I am going to continue being in that season when I go home. It has been so sweet to rest with him.

4. During your trip to India, you were in a predominantly Christian area. Is that the case in South Africa? If not, what challenges (religious or otherwise) have you faced with the people?

Like I said before, where I am is Dutch Reformed so it is predominately Christian. We have journeyed to other small towns surrounding us that are not but they were very open to us praying for them and talking to them about Jesus so it wasn’t difficult. The language barrier has been the biggest issue but it is mostly just with the children. They learn English in school but they get to pick if they want to go to school or not. The people here have been incredibly welcoming and kind to us so we haven’t really had many challenges.
