Hey y’all, My heart is so full right now. We literally just got back to base from the jail. It was a juvenile detention center, and the whole two hours was filled with playing soccer. I really suck at soccer, but I had to be uncomfortable for just a little bit to fully immerse myself in that experience. AND IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!! I want to go there everyday! We just hung out with these young adults who are murders, thieves, and hitmen for a while and we weren’t able to understand everything they were saying, but the room was just filled with joy. When they laughed, we laughed; when they were in slight pain from getting kicked where the sun don’t shine, again we laughed. It has been my best Costa Rican experience so far. I was so worried and didn’t really want to go at first, but looking back I would have been so upset if I missed out on this experience. I am just so incredibly excited for the next time I get to go hang out with them.
