Life on The Race is usually a flurry of activity.
That said, my time in Zambia has proceeded at a more relaxed pace. I have had time to sit here, to talk with my teammates and to dream. I treasure that.
While I’m still here, I wanted to share with you a story from Zim.
Tribe of Judah was busy that month. We were running back and forth between our hostel and ministry sites from 7am until 5pm or 9pm most days.
We worked hard, poured out and were pretty tuckered out at the end of the month. BUT we got to do so much. One of my favorite ministries that month was this one:
We went to a psychiatric hospital and ministered to the patients. This was our first day of ministry in Zim and it also happened to be my birthday.
When we entered that room there was so much darkness it almost overwhelmed me. I sat in there praying The Holy Spirit into that place. I cried out to God to send his presence, and as I did this my ministry partner Litu started to sing. As he sang we and the patients started to join in. His voice and our voices united together shifted the atmosphere. As praises went up, the darkness fled.
After that, my teammate, Brandi, shared her testimony with the men. It was beautiful. It was full of hope and life for people living in one of the darkest places my heart can imagine.
Our prayers have power. Our words have impact. Our testimonies can change lives. It matters not how young you are, how old you are, how long you have been a Christ follower, your gender, social status, or skin color. You were created to reflect God’s image. You were created to bear HIS image.
Do you realize how big that is? God wanted YOU to reflect Himself to the world around you. This isn’t a message for someone else, it is for you and me.
You were made with everything you need to be able to do that. If you believe in Christ then you bear His image. You have power and authority to pray darkness out of lives. You have power and authority to pray healing over people. You have power and authority to exhort others.
I love that. That is fullness of freedom. That is fullness of joy. That is hope. That is restoration of broken relationships. That is forgiveness. That is humanity as God intended.
Father God,
I want to walk in unity with you. To be bound so closely with you, that your glory is what is displayed in my life. That the lives of those around me would be impacted by Your Presence in me.
Bind up the broken hearted. Heal the sick. Call the lost home. Forgive us. Redeem us. Bring us to your side. Fill us with you. Send us out. May your glory be made known. Amen.
Friends and fam, thanks for all the prayers and support. I am blessed by you. I think of you often, and am filled with joy that I know you.
I send you my love,
Liesl
