July 25th, the day that I had eagerly been anticipating all summer. It was the day that I had to say goodbye to the place I’ve been calling home for the last six years. Even though it is a temporary goodbye, I am sad to leave. My apartment was neatly packed into five totes with my car filled and ready to go. I drove away with Minneapolis in my rearview mirror my heart was filled with an overwhelming amount of joy. My mind flooded with a movie reel of memories that I had made over the years. There is no other place that I could consider my home in the US. I am so thankful for the friendships that have been established.

To my Small Group,

It has been a blast getting to be a part of a group that encourages and loves each other so well. You all have genuinely welcomed me into the group. I am going to miss the witty banter and the endless hours of board games. You all are so different, yet God has used each one of you to speak truth into my life. There is no other group a people that I would choose to do 16 hour road trip with! Thank you for opening up your home and hearts to me!

To my Coworkers,

Looking back, I didn’t know what was in store when I decided to pursue my passion of working with children. Each of you, in your own way has shown me how to love and understand children more. You have taught me to dig deeper in my relationships with the kids to better empower them. I have taken away so much knowledge from each of you. Mrs. Yelena and Karla, you will always be my first teaching community. With out y’all I wouldn’t understand the importance of hard work and serving the children with humility and a gentle heart.Thank you, Sheena and Alex for welcoming into your classroom and making me feel right at home. I have absolutely loved getting to work beside you. I’m going to miss breaking out in song with you guys!

To my Roommate,

Hosanna, these past two years have been filled with adventure and many, many movie nights in. I am so proud of you and what you have accomplished as a teacher. Those kiddos need some one like you to guide them and love on them. Thank you for always challenging me to set aside my preferences to better serve you, and others around me.

To my favorite Married Couple,

From Africa to Minneapolis, nothing has stopped us from finding time to see each other. Emma and Mark, you have been an incredibly important part of my life. Both of you have always put Christ first in your relationship, marriage, and now family of three. Thank you for the wisdom that you’ve shared with, me and always pointing me back to scripture. Your son is so lucky to have two parents who love him unconditionally with the love that comes from God.

Until next time,

Lacy Jolene
