My name is Kelsey Walker and I am 20 years old, and currently a sophomore at Texas A&M University. I’m originally from the quaint lil’ town of Marble Falls, about an hour outside of Austin. I love my friends, my family, and am so blessed by a life that is filled with so many joys that Jesus knows will personally delight me.
I am an International Studies major, and am involved in Breakaway on the Reach Team. This means that I get to study culture, economics, and political systems, among many other things centered around the nations. I also get to interact with the international community here at Texas A&M on Tuesday nights by witnessing them taking their first or next step with Jesus Christ. I have learned so much through my time here at Texas A&M, and I am beyond thankful that it is far from over yet.
I also have the joy of being a caretaker for a 18 year old boy, Alaric, who has special needs. He is a lot of fun, and getting to hang out with him has been a highlight of my time here in College Station.
Through all of this, the Lord has molded my eyes to fuel my big dreams and passions into my everyday life. I have been taught how to love the nations without my body physically being present there. I have been taught that I can still do the things that I am good at and that I love, like caring for others, without being in the actual profession of doing so. Now, school is an absolute joy, and everyday I enjoy learning what I do. I have learned how to enjoy the mundane and find where the light pours in to everything.
Also, for all you Enneagram fans out there, I’m type 2 with a 1 wing. This classifies me as the “servant.” But hold on, it’s not as glamorous as it sounds. For all of those who follow anything enneagram, you know it’s a great tool for growth, which means it also points out a lot of your flaws – love that! In short, “Twos are empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. They are well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. They typically have problems with possessiveness and with acknowledging their own needs.” (https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/type-2/) Reading that literally makes my palms sweat. Okay, cool.
Anyway, that’s a lot about me. Some random things that I feel are important to me on a significant level are Ellen DeGeneres, Diet Coke, Khalid, and vegetables.
So, I know most of you reading this may already know me, so thanks for just reading about what you already know! But for those of you who don’t know me, thanks for being interested enough to make it to the end. I am so excited for my journey on the World Race Gap Year, and I hope to meet as many of you as possible, I’m so excited to do ministry with you guys!
