On my first blog I asked for suggestions on what to blog about. A lot of people responded to me and I kept getting the same three questions over and over. So I’ll post the three questions along with the answers.
#1. What is the world race?
The world race has different trips and routes. I’m on world race: gap year which is a 9 month mission trip through Adventures in Missions. I will go to Costa Rica, Cambodia and eSwantini (formerly named Swaziland). We will live out of a backpack, a HUGE one! In some places that will mean tenting, hiking, bucket showers, scarce electricity, no wi-fi, no hot water. Some of the things we’ll be doing is working in orphanages, we’ll teach English to children, help with planting churches, farming, ministering to women and children that have been sold into slavery and sharing the love and word of God. We will also go through a discipleship program.
#2. How did you hear about the world race?
I heard about world race from a friend of mine that is currently on the field. She’s in Nepal. I had never heard of the world race until I found out she was going. Add her and her team to your prayers, please. Her name is Carrie Grace.
#3. Why do you want to go on such a long mission trip?
It is long, SUPER long. The length of the trip is what held me back for so long. I love missions and I love traveling. I’ve always wanted to go to Africa and work in the orphanages. I saw this as a way to make that dream come true. I had a very different plan for after graduation. I had a shadowing opportunity set up for it and I kept feeling the Lord say those aren’t the plans I have for you. So I started looking at a different path and again I felt Him saying that’s not what I have for you. I knew what He wanted but the whole 9 months was hard to say yes to. After much prayer I committed to His plans. I’m so excited to see what He is going to do in me and through me during these 9 months!
Thank you for all the prayers and donations so far! Please continue to keep me and my team in your prayers. I have a long way to go in fundraising and any amount given is so appreciated.
