Hi, I’m Kathryn!
heart-filled stuff
One of the biggest things that has impacted my heart and the way I see the world is Young Life. I’ve been involved in this ministry since 2013 and it has done wonders in and around me. The leaders I’ve looked up to, the community I’ve been a part of, and the girls I’ve had the opportunity to lead are all so, so incredible. Another heart grasper for me have been the churches I’m involved in. When in the Boro, Compassion Christian Church is my home, and when visiting the parents Browns Bridge Church rocks my world. I grew up going to Browns Bridge where I was lucky enough to lead a group of rockstar 4th graders and baptized. The college ministry in Statesboro is rock’n and the holy women I’ve been able to look up to & grow relationships with has been life altering to say the least
led to the world race
The Lord has been sprinkling the idea of the World Race in my path since 2016. Here’s a slight overview of those sprinkles:
- My first introduction to the ministry was from a girl I graduated with that did a gap year with the WR. I read into the mission and creeped on instagrams and found myself super intrigued, but just intrigued and not convinced to go myself.
- I went on a mission trip with CRU for spring break in 2017 to Guatemala. Well cool enough, turns out we were staying at a place that also houses racers & my old classmate’s next stop was exactly where we were! Super cool and fun, I know
- I go to Young Life camps every chance I get and I don’t recall if it was ‘work week’ or wrangling training, but sometime at CPT I met another girl that went on the race, and was actually on the same route as my old classmate! More coolness, I know!
- Recently someone asked about my post graduation plans & when I answered “idk, tbd,” they mentioned the World Race and I quickly blew it off because of the fundraising aspect.
That night I researched routes going out in January 2020 and was struck by the urge to go.
The thing with fundraising, is that I know God can and will provide… but my mindset was selfish and lazy
I pushed away my concerns and applied two nights after hiking to see what God would do with my application. He came back with the opportunity to serve in South America!
So here I am!!!
I leave in January and will be serving communities in Colombia, Ecuador & Peru
