Who am I?
My name is Kasie. I am 19 years old and I will turn 20 during my World Race Semesters Trip! I’ve never been out of the country so this trip is already super exciting to think about. I’ve actively followed the Lord since I was a young girl. The Lord welcomed me into his Kingdom on August 23, 2009 when I was baptized at my home church. Through my church community, I made friends that continue to support me to this day and mentors that are always there for me when I need guidance.
During high school, I joined Younglife and my life was forever changed. Seeing the way the Lord moved through the lives of my peers and myself is indescribable. Witnessing with my friends that I had grown so close to as they started their lives with Christ gave me so much joy and patience for the Lord. My relationship with the Lord became more active than ever and I am so thankful for the opportunities Younglife gave me then and is giving me now in college.
Where did I grow up?
Fredericksburg, Virginia. I grew up here with my mom, grandma, sister, and brother. Living in a small town meant the rest of our family was less than 5 minutes away and sleepovers were endless. My family is one of the biggest reasons why I am who I am today, their continuous support and love has allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined. Leaving them this summer may be one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to do but, I will continue to trust in the Lord and His plans for me.
What is God teaching me?
Recently, God has been teaching me that my plan is not His plan. I am constantly planning out my days and what I am going to do months in advance. Through these times of planning I’ve forgotten to ask the Lord what He wants for me. I focused on what I wanted to do instead of what He wants me to do. I’ve learned that it is okay when things don’t go according to my plan because everything happens for a reason. Even if it seems unclear to me at times, I know that the Lord’s guidance will follow when He wants it to.
What is this trip?
I will be traveling to Haiti and the Dominican Republic for two months. I will be spending my first month in Haiti. I will get to experience the ongoing spiritual revival that is currently happening throughout the country while sharing the gospel and the love of God. My second month will be spent in the Dominican Republic. I will be building relationships with people in the communities and will get the opportunity to lead Vacation Bible School and work with children’s ministry.
Why am I going on this trip?
During this trip, I have strong hopes that my relationship with the Lord will grow and that I will see how loved I am by Him. I am excited to further my walk with Christ even if it gets tough at times. This trip will be a true blend of comfort and discomfort for me but, I am SO ready for it. The Lord has pursued me my entire life and as a result of that, I get to pursue other people and share how great Jesus is and truly discover what He has in store for me.
Lastly, I want to thank you for coming along with me on my journey. I can’t wait to share all of the exciting adventures that will come from this experience.
