Hi! I’m Julia Garcia and I’m from Colorado Springs, Colorado. I grew up camping with my family and have come to love everything outdoors from hiking 14ers to hammocking, and Colorado is the perfect place for all of it. This May, I graduated from Rampart High School where I completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. I had an amazing group of friends/classmates and teachers who helped me grow an appreciation for being part of the international community. Through the IB program I had the opportunity to serve in Haiti which made me realize my passion for serving and helped me decide to choose World Race Gap Year! At school I was also able to dive into art! I love creating with all different mediums including paint, colored/graphite pencil, ink, and woodburning. I also learned that I have a strong inclination to business and marketing and am planning to study business in college. I’ve been accepted to The George Washington University School of Business in Washington D.C for the fall after World Race!

At home I live with my Mom, Dad, and younger sister Catie who is in her junior year. The rest of our family at home includes our cat Sprinkles (who I named when I was 5 and now has three legs) and our golden retriever Bella, she’s pretty needy. I was very lucky to live close to a lot of my best friends, who at times have pretty much lived at my house too (or me at theirs). While I’m sad to leave it all behind for awhile, I know it’s time to jump into the Lord’s plan for me! I have already felt like preparing for World Race has brought huge growth in my faith. I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity and everyone who has supported me in making it happen! I hope you continue to follow me over these 9 months of whatever He has planned!!
