Sawasdee Ka! (Hello)

Thank you (Khob Kuhn ka) again to all you who are praying for me, those who have given financially to help me get here, and those who happened across my blog – thanks for reading! I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be here and to serve here in Thailand.

We have just finished week one of ministry at a place called Agape Home which has roughly 100 children who have HIV. Here at this place my team and I have gotten to serve them by cleaning a classroom/bathroom, and painting the inside of a house that will be used by nannies who help to care for the children. It has been good work but also very exhausting work. We have gotten the opportunity to play with the preschool kids for a little bit this week as well. This is a ministry that teaches kids about Jesus and gives them a place to live, as it is very rare for kids with HIV to be adopted here. (They do have some children who don’t have HIV but the majority all have HIV).

The enemy is always trying to make us unfruitful or fearful and he attacks how we think about God or about who we are in Christ. (But Jesus is Victorious). Once thing that God revealed to me recently was that I have been believing a lie that there wasn’t much fruit in our ministry. The truth is there is a lot of fruit, it just might not be as evident and it might not be seen until after we leave. While we aren’t teaching English or working with local people here, we are building relationships as a team as we work together and I am grateful for that. There is fruit and growth in Jesus in each one of my squad mates. There is fruit in my life and I also am learning and growing. And there is fruit in this ministry because now they have the opportunity to use this house and classroom/bathroom for Kingdom purposes. Sometimes we just sow seeds into a ministry and the fruit will be seen later who will be blessed by the work that we have been sent here to do.

The enemy can also make us doubt our ability to be used or whisper lies that I won’t grow, but in spite of this I remember that He has called me for a reason here and He will use me :). God has been confirming the fact that I don’t have to be perfect in everything but I am on a journey with God and learning more and more about His character, Holy Spirit, and the the well of love He has for us. It is good to recognize when we have been agreeing with the enemy and believing something that is not true about God or the identity we have through His sacrifice on the cross. Then we can remind ourselves of the truth. God is good and faithful to complete the work He has started and I am chosen and called to serve and love. So…what sort of lies against your identity or God’s character have you been believing?

Blessings from Chiang Mai,
